To offer a wide range of enriching sports and cultural activities that will encourage the students to build individual character, confidence and new skills. To instil the values of teamwork and individual responsibility. To have a fantastic summer and enjoy yourself to the fullest.
Details of Summer Language Courses
Summer Language Courses - Our summer language courses in English and Spanish are organised into five lessons per week, with one lesson every morning. Monday through to Friday each class is one hour in length, and we set a maximum of 12 students per class in order to ensure individual attention. The courses are carefully designed to emphasise conversation and communication, so that students may take full advantage of their surroundings and apply what they’re learning by speaking with friends during the remainder of the day.
Our Tutors The success of all learning depends on an excellent teaching team trained and equipped to motivate their students. To this end, we’ve carefully selected highly qualified and energetic tutors for our school. All our tutors are native English or Spanish with qualifications in Spanish /English Linguistics and/or Teaching Spanish /English as a Foreign Language. Our summer school faculty is experienced in teaching young people of various ages and implements a wide array of techniques and activities that speak to every age group and learning type.
Methodology The language curriculum is designed keeping in mind at all times that we are a Summer School. In other words, classes are conceived to be sufficiently interesting and entertaining to motivate students to the fullest, but we simultaneously optimise class time by encouraging conversation and discussion in a serious and professional manner. Our aim is for students to enjoy themselves while learning as much as possible in a short period of time. The methodology is centered on a communicative approach, utilising diverse techniques to cover the fundamentals of language learning: grammar, speaking, listening, vocabulary, pronunciation, writing & intercultural competence.
Teaching Materials - Our teaching materials are designed for each age group and subdivided into varying levels of linguistic competence.
Levels - Every student takes a placement test on the first day of classes in order to determine their language level. They are consequently placed into one of 6 levels, from very beginner to proficiency.
Certificates - Each student will receive a certificate detailing accomplishments realised during his/her stay on the last day of school.
Details of Cultural Workshop
Outdoors Workshop -With this workshop, students will explore and learn about various aspects related to the natural environment, orienteering on trails, knot-making, camping, etc. At the same time, one of the principal goals is to instil in our students a lifelong philosophy of respect and appreciation towards the environment that surrounds us.
Journalism Workshop - The journalism workshop provides an opportunity for students to have fun and take part in the creation of a publication that encompasses camp news, opinions, etc. Students will work on their critical thinking and writing skills, express their creativity and form part of a productive team in the publication of a monthly newspaper.
Music, Guitar and Percussion Workshop - With this workshop, students learn how to use the bongos, the flamenco cajón (a special box for creating flamenco rhythms), the guitar, the maracas and other percussion instruments. They will have the opportunity to compose musical pieces and songs to perform on the last day of school.
Theatre Workshop - This workshop gives the students the opportunity to create their own mini - plays and perform them, or possibly recreate famous works recommended by the tutor. Students will be able to participate in every aspect of the theatre, from selecting the play and acting to applying make-up, creating costumes and designing the set and performing on the last day of school.
Magic Workshop - The magic workshop encourages young people to develop digital dexterity and hand, eye and finger coordination from practicing sleight-of-hand moves and the handling of objects in specific ways. It also develops communication and verbal skills. This workshop will encourage creativity and expression skills and the students self confidence and esteem.
Arts & Crafts Workshops - Participants will create handicrafts using a variety of materials, such as clay, paper, yarn, beads, threads, toothpicks, recycled materials. They will learn about various painting techniques and mediums and have the opportunity to create their own ‘masterpiece’ to display on the last day of school!
Cooking Workshop This workshop encourages students to discover the culinary arts through practical experience. Participants will learn how to create a menu and enjoy some hands on experience making some typically English and Spanish dishes. The best is that they get to eat what they make!!!
Ballroom Dancing and Flamenco Workshop This workshop is intended to encourage students to develop their personal sense of rhythm and movement through music and dance.
