ICT Curriculum – Key Stage 3, Key Stage 4 and Key Stage 5
ICT in Key Stage 3
The discrete KS3 ICT curriculum follows the National Key Stage 3 Strategy for ICT.
Students in Year 7, Year 8 and Year 9 have ICT once per week for one hour. Pupils undertake tasks to enhance their skills in presentation, word processing, databases, spreadsheets, Desk Top Publishing, communications (Internet & email) and graphics.
ICT in Key Stage 4
GCSE Information Communication Technology is currently offered as an optional subject at KS4.
Students studying GCSE ICT (AQA) complete two assignments over the two year course and can use a range of software including:
• MS Word
• MS PowerPoint
• MS Access
• MS Excel
• MS FrontPage
The Coursework is worth 60%
The Theory exam is worth 40%.
ICT in Key Stage 5
A level Information Communication Technology is also offered in the Sixth Form.
Students Studying AS and A2 ICT (AQA) complete two assignments over the two year course and use either MS Access, MS Excel or MS FrontPage.
In addition there are two exam papers to sit in each year. The exams are worth 30% each and the assignments 40% each.
