HEALTH  AND  SOCIAL  CARE

AQA Applied GCE Double or Single Award AS and A2 levels

This specification is followed in order to give interested students a chance to gain either a single or double AS or A2 qualification.  They are ideal for a student wanting a broad background in Health and Social Care allowing  them to progress to further  related .towards higher education or employment.

In order to understand the nature of Health and Social Care, the students’ learning is applied to a range of work related contexts.  This will be achieved through case studies and guided research of related topics, also work experience within the school in our early years department.

Candidates will be expected to produce portfolio evidence for some units and sit external tests for others.  Topics covered in the course include:

                                   -   Effective Caring
                                   -   Effective Communication
                                   -   Health, Illness and Disease                                                                       

Optional Units include:
                                    -  Child Development.
                                    -  Nutrition and Dietetics
                                    -  Common Diseases and Disorders
                                    -  Psychology Perspectives
                                    -  Clients with Disabilities
                                    -  The role of Exercise in maintaining Health and Well Being

These units can be taken in any order throughout the course.  This is a valuable course for someone preferring a less academic based course due to its choice of coursework portfolios available in broad subject matter.
