English at Key Stage 3
Students in Years 7, 8 and 9 develop their skills and are assessed in three areas: Speaking and Listening, Reading and Writing.
To help them become effective communicators, pupils participate in different types of discussions. They read a variety of texts, including novels, plays and non-fiction. They also develop their ability to write for different purposes and audiences, including persuasive arguments, media articles, fiction and poetry. Drama is also an invaluable tool in helping students broaden their communication skills.
