External Assessment based on a pre-released topic.
UNIT 2 - Understanding the Media.
Controlled Assessment – 3 set assignments - 90 marks – 60%
Media Studies encourage the development of critical understanding and analytical stalls.
Students investigate the impact of mass media and its technologies on contemporary society.
We will study the following media forms:
Print and Electronic Publishing including newspapers, magazines, advertising.
Moving Image:
· Television - genre study, franchises, scheduling.
· Film - features, trailers, genre, production
· Radio - commercial, public broadcasting
· Web-based technologies / New Media – internet web design, social networking etc.
Plus – Advertising and Marketing, Popular music, News.
Media Studies is a modern, forward thinking subject which prepares students for further study in Media, journalism, advertising, production, etc.
It takes the form of one examination and three written assignments – and it’s fun!
