General Information
The course is very structured and students must be able to use and apply all
software applications. This means that they will have to develop and formulate
spreadsheets, databases and charts, design and produce items in desk top
publishing, use drawing and graphic packages and learn and understand HTML
code to create web pages.
In addition to this the students have to understand the internal structure of a
computer and how it operates, including data storage and transfer, input and
output peripherals, and how information systems work.
Finally, the students have to have an understanding of how ICT impacts on
society, especially in terms of health, safety and legal requirements.
Elements of Assessment
Unit 1
Written Exam Paper 1½ hour exam 40% of total marks
Unit 2
Set Assignment Students have to solve an ICT problem which is worth 30% of the total examination mark.
Unit 3
Extended Assignment Students solve an ICT problem which is worth 30% of the total examination mark.
