IGCSE History is designed as a two-year course which allows students to study
the main themes and periods of the history of the nineteenth and twentieth
centuries.
The aims of the History IGCSE are:
a. To acquire knowledge and understanding of selected periods of history.
b. To be able to draw conclusions and make judgements.

This IGCSE has no tiers of entry and is accessible for all students
Summary of Scheme of Assessment
There is one examination paper which will assess the student’s ability in four
separate units. Each unit is worth 25 marks.
Summary of the Content
The four units are all based on modern world themes:
1. The divided world 1919 – 39
This looks at the efforts to prevent wars and the failure of peace in 1939.
2. The divided world 1945 - 62
At the end the world split into two great camps. We will analyse why.
3. * The Russian Revolution
4. * Conflict and crisis in the Middle East. 1919 – 73.
* These are depth studies that show the importance of people, events and
changes. We will see how the actions of the past influence the world we live in
today.
