The Edexcel IGCE French consists of three units based on the following skills: Listening, Reading and Writing and Speaking.
Unit 1: Listening (33%)
Students will be tested on their ability to understand spoken French. Testing is through a variety of tasks which require a written or non-verbal response to demonstrate understanding.
Unit 2: Reading and Writing (66%)
This examination consists of a number of short texts, notices or news reports in French which include a range of setting and styles plus a writing task of at least 150 words that must be undertaken in controlled conditions in a single assessment session of no more than one hour.
Unit 3: Speaking
The focus of the speaking unit will be chosen by the student with the help of the teacher. It will have to be based on a picture related to one of these topics:
* Home and Abroad
* Education and Employment
* House, Home and Daily Routine
* The Modern World and the Environment
* Social Activities, Fitness and Health
