Notice Board, Tuesday 6 August 2011
Dear Parents and Students,
On behalf of the staff at St. Anthony’s College I would like to welcome you to the 2011 - 2012 term.
On a very sad note, Don Jose Aranda, our Technical Director of the Spanish section has passed away. His death has shocked his colleagues and students, and our thoughts are with his wife and family at this difficult moment in time.
I would like to congratulate out Year 13 students who have all gained their university places, and wish them all the best for the future. Our results in both IGCSE and GCE were excellent this year and above the National Average. Both the staff and pupils deserve a pat on the back for all their hard work and effort put in to achieve the grades.
We will start off the year with a ‘Back to School’ invitation to parents to meet the teachers on the 14th September. This is aimed at new parents and students, but all are welcome to visit the class rooms, see what your child will be taught, and discuss learning objectives with the teacher. The Primary School will begin at 3.00pm with a short address. The School Handbook will be distributed, then you will be free to visit the year group classrooms. The Senior school teachers will be available from 3.35pm in the Hall. This is a good opportunity for everyone to meet each other.
In order to keep informed, there will be a list of Key Dates available to parents, advising of Parents Meetings and other school activities regularly updated on our website.
We would like to welcome Guillermo Machado as our new teacher of Maths and Physics IGCSE and A level onto the staff, and also Mike Goosey as Year 6 form tutor, whom some of you may know from his valued support for the school on previous occasions.
St. Anthony’s is one of the most established schools in the area, and is entering its forty third year. We aim to give an all-round education and produce happy, confident children with a goal, positive attitude to work, life and other people. We strive for good academic results, and care for the individual is our guiding principle.
As Head Teacher I am keen to promote communication, and believe that it is the heart of a successful relationship between home and the school. If any parents would like to become involved in supporting the school in various ways, I would be pleased to accept any help or ideas.
I hope that you have all enjoyed the summer holidays, but now it is ‘back to school’ and I look forward to another successful term ahead.
Yours sincerely,
Ms.S.M.Mulligan
