The revised specification provides students with a sound understanding of the
variation methods and approaches in psychology at both AS on A2.
Topics representing the core areas of social, cognitive, development, individual and
biological differences are carefully chosen due to their prominence and popularity.

UNIT 2: Social and Cogniture Psychology.
Individual differences.
Social influence.
Remembering and forgetting.
Anxiety.
Autism.
UNIT 3: Child Development.
Options: Cognition and law.
Schizophrenia and mood disorders.

Substance abuse.
Forensic psychology.
UNIT 4: Approaches, Debates and Methods.
There is no requirement of prior knowledge of Psychology when embarking on this
course. It is designed to give simulation to students to engage into a broader
understanding of the discipline as a whole. Acquiring the skills of application should
help the transition from AS/A2 to study in higher education where students have to
think for themselves.
Requirements: Good level of written /spoken English grade C. Mathematics grade C at
GCSE.
Careers: Medicine, Nursing, many jobs which involve working with people, adults
and children e.g. Teaching, Law, Police.
