ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Grade A/B at IGCSE English Literature
COURSE CONTENT
Before embarking upon the study of examination texts, students are given an intensive
introduction to key authors in all areas of literature covering medieval to
contemporary works and are also introduced to the analytical and critical skills needed
to complete the course.
The aim is not only to improve the student’s ability to analyse and explore texts, but to
enable them to learn to appreciate literature of all genres.
The examination syllabus dictates that the students should study a minimum of six
texts from an extensive list, including Shakespeare, prose, drama and poetry, some of
which must have been written pre-1700. As far as possible the course content is
centred around the interests of the students.
