ENTRY REQUIREMENTS:
GCSE Grade C or above in English and Mathematics
The aims of this course are to
· Understand the internal functions of contemporary business organisations
· Recognise the dynamic external environment within which businesses operate
and how this affects decision making
· Consider the major topical issues that generate change and the ways in which
business responds to them
· Understand the range of stakeholder perspectives that can be taken on business
activities
COURSE CONTENT
AS Level
Unit 1 – Planning and Financing a Business. This unit covers the issues involved in
business start-up, such as research and planning as well as the factors that determine
success.
Unit 2 – Managing a Business. This unit focuses on how established businesses might
improve their effectiveness by making tactical decisions at functional level.
A2 Level
Unit 3 – Strategies for Success. With the focus in this unit on the larger businesses
which may be trading in the international markets it considers how managers measure
the performance of business.
Unit 4 – The Business Environment and Managing Change. This unit assesses the
external factors that can act as catalysts for change and considers these in relation to a
range of businesses. The unit also examines ways in which business can manage
change successfully.
